Cats drop Polson, Dillon, Sidney in duals
They didn’t make the championship round, but the Columbia Falls wrestling team made its mark against AA schools at the Mining City Duals over the weekend.
While individual results were not available, the MatCats lost to Billings Skyview by 14 points, coach Jessie Schaeffer said, which was a great accomplishment considering the Cats were down by two wrestlers. Skyview went on to take second in the tourney.
They also lost a close dual to Great Falls CMR. On Nov. 10 the Cats dropped both Dillon and Sydney in duals as well, beating Dillon 48-21 and Sydney 48-28.
Schaeffer said it was a long week, especially the Butte tourney.
“It’s a meat grinder,” he said. “You can’t hide.”
The MatCats hosted Polson in a dual at home Tuesday — one of only two home appearances all season longand beat the Pirates 42-30 in a great match. Polson was ranked No. 2 in the state heading into the dual.
