John Schutt

John W. Schutt, 73 died Jan. 28, 2014, after a long battle with cancer.

He was born to John A. Schutt and Louise B. Craft on May 22, 1941, in his grandparents’ house in Kalispell. John had been a Lake Blaine resident since 1963, where he raised his family and enjoyed the lake and the country solitude.

John owned and operated three roller rinks in the Flathead Valley — at Shady Lane in Kalispell, Bayview in Polson and Whoopie John’s in Columbia Falls. He also worked as a paperboy for the Daily Inter Lake, the Great Falls Tribune, the Spokane Spokesman-Review and the Kalispell News.

He was preceded in death by both parents and his sister Barbara Benziem.

John is survived by his wife Carol Schutt; sons Brian, Kirke, David and Kevin; daughters Danette, Kimberly and Connie; 16 grandchildren; five great grandsons; and many family and good friends.

Services will be held at Buffalo Hill Funeral Home on Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2015, at 11:30 a.m. A reception will follow at the Hampton Inn in Kalispell at 1 p.m. Family and friends are welcome to bring a side dish, salad or dessert.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Kalispell Regional Medical Center Hospice.
