Triplett moves to top of world standings
Matt Triplett took fourth in the Built Ford Tough Professional Bull Riders Sacramento Invitational on Jan. 31, good enough to move him to No. 1 in the world rankings.
The Columbia Falls bull rider recorded his fourth BFTS round win — the most of any rider to date this season — with his 87.75-point ride on Slinger Back in round 2.
The win in that round, coupled with 85 points for tying for fourth in the event average, yielded a total of 185 world standings points, enough to move Triplett ahead of defending world champion Silvano Alves.
Triplett has a 62 percent riding average for the young season and has won $82,169 to date. He leads Alves by 1,405-1,240.
Last week, Triplett won in Oklahoma City. Next up is the Anaheim Invitational in California on Feb. 6-8.
