The Columbia Falls girls basketball team routed Eureka by 80-29 on the road Jan. 30.

The Wildkats had four girls in double figures. Sisters Cydney and Ciera Finberg each had 14, Peyton Kehr had 10, and Winter Kemppainen had 19.

All told, the Kats had eight players in the scoring column and their defense held the Class B Lady Lions to just nine points in the first half.

Coach Cary Finberg was pleased with the performance.

“They played with a purpose and took care of business right from the start,” he said. He was especially happy with the guard play of the Finberg sisters, Ellie Johnson and Miranda Livingston. They had 17 assists and just three turnovers as a group — a sign of great passing and ball sharing.

Winter Kemppainen is also playing much better since she can now play without a face protector on. She broke her nose earlier in the season and had to wear a protective mask for several games. Against Eureka, she had nine rebounds along with her points to lead the Kats.

The girls will face Class B Bigfork away on Thursday and Polson at home on Saturday. Game time for Polson is 4 p.m.

The Kats are now 13-1 on the season.
