Boys and girls
The Boys and Girls Club of Glacier Country will hold their annual prime rib dinner and auction fundraiser at Gardner’s Auction House, on U.S. 93 in south Kalispell, on Saturday, Feb. 28, with doors opening at 5 p.m. The club is celebrating 16 years of providing services for more than 160 kids a day after school. Trail fundraiser
The Gateway To Glacier Trail group will host its second Story Slam fundraising event in the chapel building at the Montana Veterans Home in Columbia Falls on Friday, March 13, from 6 to 9 p.m. The evening will feature a few “celebrity” storytellers and a smackdown competition for everyone else. Tickets are $12 for adults, $6 for age 6-17 and free for children 5 or under. Funds received will go to construction of a pedestrian and bike path from Columbia Falls to West Glacier. Speech workshop

Canyon fundraiser
The Historic Belton Chalet will host its second Dining For A Cause on Friday through Sunday, Feb. 20-22 with music by Brent Jameson on Saturday night. Firemen’s ball
The East Glacier Fire Department will host their annual Firemen’s Ball at the Library and Community Hall, on U.S. 2 in East Glacier on Saturday, Feb. 28, beginning at 6 p.m. featuring home-smoked barbecue ribs from chef Aaron of Bison Creek, cornbread, world-famous Terry Sherburne sweet pecan beans, salads and assorted desserts at $17 per person, $27 couples, $5 children 5-10 and free children under 5. The Crawford Brothers band will provide dance music to 9 p.m. All proceeds will benefit the East Glacier Park Fire Department. For more information, call 406-437-8246.
Nite of jazz
The 10th annual Glacier Kiwanis “Nite of Jazz” fundraiser will be held at Columbia Falls High School on Monday, March 9, starting at 7 p.m. with musicians and bands from five Flathead Valley high schools. Sheriff’s academy
The Flathead County Sheriff’s Office will accept applications for the spring session of its Sheriff’s Citizens Academy through March 17. The eight-week course will be held on Tuesdays from 6 to 9 p.m. from April 14 through June 2. Loud at the Library
The sixth annual Loud at the Library fundraiser will be held at the ImagineIF library in Kalispell on Thursday, March 19, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Sponsored by the ImagineIF Library Foundation to support ImagineIF Libraries, the evening will feature live music by the Can’t Hardly Playboys, appetizers, beer and wine, raffle baskets and a silent auction. Spellebration
The Literacy Center of Northwest Montana will hold its 10th annual Team Scrabble fundraising event at Flathead Valley Community College’s Arts and Technology Building on Saturday, Feb. 21, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. FVCC’s Culinary Arts Institute will cater the event. Creston auction
The Creston Fire Department will host the 49th annual Creston Auction & Country Fair and the accompanying RV, Marine, Auto & Equipment Sale on Saturday and Sunday, April 11 and 12. This benefit for the all-volunteer fire department is the largest spring event in Montana and draws thousands of people from throughout the region and Canada. Consignment Day is Friday, April 10, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. The sale grounds in Creston will open at 8 a.m. on Saturday. The vehicle and equipment sale will begin at noon on Sunday.
