The Bigfork High School boys basketball team heads into the district tournament looking strong, with no conference losses, and only one non-conference defeat.

The Vikings continued their winning streak last week, beating St. Ignatius on Tuesday, 72-48, Thompson Falls on Friday, 57-49 and Florence on Saturday, 72-49.

Isaac Martel has continued to lead the Vikes in scoring with 21 points over Florence and 20 against Thompson Falls and St. Ignatius.

“Isaac has been playing well all year,” head coach Sam Tudor said. “Sure he’s been scoring more points as of late, but he has led us all season in assists and steals. He’s just as happy seeing his teammates score as he is taking the ball to the hole by himself. Not only is he one of our most consistent players, he’s an all-around student-athlete with tremendous character on and off of the court.”

Against Florence, the Vikings outscored the Falcons in every quarter, putting up 20 to their 10 in the third. Josh Sandry, Adam Jordt and Ryder Trent all followed Martel for scoring, each with 12 points.

On Friday Bigfork took a 32-17 lead over Thompson Falls at halftime. Though Thompson Falls rallied in the second half and outscored Bigfork in the third and fourth quarters they weren’t able to overcome the deficit.

Bigfork started off against St. Ignatius on Tuesday by building a large first-quarter lead. Jonathan Landon chipped in for the win with 13 points and Tyler Piazzola and Jordt each had 10.

Despite the Vikings’ near-perfect record this season, head coach Sam Tudor knows it won’t be an easy road back to the state tournament.

“Our strategy from here on out is to take it one game at a time,” Tudor said. “We feel there isn’t a team at the district level that can be overlooked. It should be a great tournament.”

In the district playoffs onTuesday Troy and Plains will face off. The winner will travel to Bigfork on Thursday to take on the Vikings in the District semi final at 5:30 p.m.

Eureka will travel to Thompson Falls for the other semifinal match up on Thursday.

The district championship game is Saturday at 5 p.m. in Columbia Falls. The consolation game for boys is at 1 p.m.
