Fire destroys home in Martin City
An early morning fire destroyed a Martin City residence Feb. 16. Martin City assistant fire chief Tom Meskimen said firefighters got the call for a fire at the Janine Perry residence on Spotted Bear Road at 5:46 a.m.
Perry was able to get out of her house safely, but the structure was a complete loss. Meskimen said firefighters believe the fire possibly started from an electrical problem related to a hot tub inside the house.
Firefighters from Martin City, Coram-West Glacier and Hungry Horse all responded to the scene. The blaze took time to control, Meskimen said — firefighters were still hitting hot spots at 10 a.m. and left the scene shortly before noon.
Perry was taking residence at an adjacent home on the property. Perry is state Rep. Zac Perry’s mother.
