Holiday Village work day

Volunteers are needed to take down the Holiday Village at Marantette Park in Columbia Falls on Saturday, Feb. 28, beginning at 10 a.m. Volunteers should bring their own tools.

Glass recycling

New World Recycling, in cooperation with Xanterra Glacier Park Lodges, is offering to take glass  for recycling at the Xanterra offices in Columbia Falls. Xanterra hopes to get 70,000 pounds of recycled glass to use for the floor of its Red Bus garage to be built on Highway 206 this year. The Xanterra recycling site will also take aluminum and tin, and No. 1 and No. 2 plastics. No trash is accepted.

Canyon fundraiser for emergency responders

The Historic Belton Chalet will host its second Dining For A Cause on Friday through Sunday, Feb. 20-22 with music by Brent Jameson on Saturday night. Free meals

Free meals will be served by the Columbia Falls Community Kitchen from Feb. 25 to 28 in the basement of St. Richard’s Catholic Church starting at 6 p.m.

East Glacier firemen’s ball

The East Glacier Fire Department will host their annual Firemen’s Ball at the Library and Community Hall, on U.S. 2 in East Glacier on Saturday, Feb. 28, beginning at 6 p.m. featuring home-smoked barbecue ribs from chef Aaron of Bison Creek, corn bread, world-famous Terry Sherburne sweet pecan beans, salads and assorted desserts at $17 per person, $27 couples, $5 children 5-10 and free children under 5. The Crawford Brothers band will provide dance music to 9 p.m. All proceeds will benefit the East Glacier Park Fire Department. For more information, call 406-437-8246.

High school Nite of Jazz

The 10th annual Glacier Kiwanis “Nite of Jazz” fundraiser will be held at Columbia Falls High School on Monday, March 9, starting at 7 p.m. with musicians and bands from five Flathead Valley high schools. Hockaday speaks at Chamber

 The Columbia Falls Area Chamber of Commerce will hold their monthly luncheon in the Teakettle Community Room, 235 Nucleus Avenue, on Tuesday, March 10, from 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. The guest speakers will be from the Hockaday Museum of Art, in Kalispell, and the Glacier National Park Conservancy, in Columbia Falls. The Columbia Falls Area Chamber of Commerce’s Business After Hours social will take place at Professional Therapy, 1850 Ninth Street West, on the U.S. 2 strip in Columbia Falls, on Thursday, March 12, from 5 to 7 p.m.

Canyon trail fundraiser

The Gateway To Glacier Trail group will host its second Story Slam fundraising event in the chapel building at the Montana Veterans Home in Columbia Falls on Friday, March 13, from 6 to 9 p.m. The evening will feature a few “celebrity” storytellers and a smackdown competition for everyone else. Tickets are $12 for adults, $6 for age 6-17 and free for children 5 or under. Funds received will go to construction of a pedestrian and bike path from Columbia Falls to West Glacier. Free thought film showing

The Flathead Area Secular Humanist Association will show part 1 of the video series “American Freethought” at the ImagineIF Library in Kalispell on Monday, March 9, starting at 6 p.m. Parts 2 through 4 will be shown on March 23, April 6 and April 13. Sheriff’s academy

The Flathead County Sheriff’s Office will accept applications for the spring session of its Sheriff’s Citizens Academy through March 17. The eight-week course will be held on Tuesdays from 6 to 9 p.m. from April 14 through June 2.
