Russel Alfred Bucher

Russel Alfred Bucher, 86, died at the Montana State Veterans Home on Jan. 4, 2015, in the company of his loving wife.

He was born on Sept. 20, 1928, in Hinsdale to Oliver and Fannie Bucher. He was the sixth of eight children.

Russel married Ellen Kellum in Sutherlin, Ore., on July 3, 1959. He was the proud father of two children, Scott and Rhonda Bucher.

A veteran of the Korean War and a 26-year career employee at the Columbia Falls aluminum plant, Russel was admired in the community. His kind heart and giving spirit made him loved by all. His passion for gardening, hunting, fishing and his grandchildren kept him busy late into his life. He will be dearly missed.

Russel was preceded in his death by his parents, sisters Celia Knopp and Stella Fauth, brothers Oliver, Marvin and Ralph Bucher, and daughter Rhonda Bucher.

Survivors include his wife Ellen Bucher, brother Clarence Bucher, sister Doris Poor, son and daughter-in-law Scott and Marie Bucher, eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at the Journey Church in Columbia Falls on Monday, Jan. 12, 2015, at 1 p.m. The service will be followed by a potluck luncheon at the same location.
