Despite receiving two technical fouls the Bigfork High School Boys basketball team came from behind Saturday, to best Florence Carlton 64-55 in Bigfork.

The Falcons led the Vikings 44-38 going into the fourth quarter before sending the Vikes to the line over and over, where they sank 11 out of 13 free throws to overtake Florence and pull away. Adam Jordt was 6-for-6 from the line in the fourth quarter.

Isaac Martel was key to sealing the Viking victory scoring 19 points in the game, including eight in the fourth quarter and contributing some nice assists.

Josh Sandry had 17 points and a monster dunk, fixing a broken set play by leaping over a defender and throwing down the flush.

Bigfork snagged 27 rebounds and 22 turnovers against the Falcons.

“They either come together when it gets tough or they don’t,” head coach Sam Tudor said. “And they stepped up.”

The Vikings sealed an easier victory on the road Thursday in Thompson Falls, where they bested the Blue Hawks 67-43.

Bigfork started quick and led 22-4 after the first eight minutes and 39-15 at the half.

Ryder Trent led for scoring with 16 points followed by Sandry with 15 and Jordt and Martel with 11.

The Vikings travel to Plains on Thursday, and host Eureka on Friday; varsity plays at 7 p.m.

The Valkyries also chalked up another two wins this week, both on the road. Bigfork crushed Florence 59-29 on Saturday and came out victorious in a close battle over Thompson Falls on Tuesday, 49-47.

Against Florence Bigfork had 20 steals, eight by Mattison McAnally, who also had seven assists. Marissa Hiza led for points with 16 followed by Lana Berg with 14 and Miranda Campbell with 12.

The crushing victory came after a close battle that came down to the wire in Thompson Falls on Tuesday. The Vals held on to a one-point lead for most of the last two minutes to squeak out the victory. Berg had a strong day against Thompson Falls scoring a career-high 25 points and pulling down 14 rebounds.

The Vals hit the road again Tuesday visiting Eureka and head to Plains on Thursday.
