Children's theatre opens Big Bad Musical

The fourth production in the children’s theatre’s 2014-2015 season stars 35 second to sixth graders as they turn the audience into a jury to decide the fate of a fairy-tale villain.

The notorious Big Bad Wolf is slapped with a class-action lawsuit by storybook characters who want to get even: Little Red Riding Hood, her Grandmother, the Three Little Pigs and the Shepherd in charge of the Boy Who Cried Wolf. With Sydney Grimm as commentators on live court TV, the two greatest legal minds in the Enchanted Forest—the Evil Stepmother and the Fairy Godmother—clash in the trial.

This is the second season the children’s playhouse has brought this show to the stage. They first performed it in the 2008-2009 season.

This season’s cast has shown great musical ability, which artistic director Brach Thomson said is one of the production’s highlights.

“To sing with the amount of power these kids sing with, I think that will just blow you away,” Thomson said.

Performances will be at the Bigfork Center for the Performing Arts on Friday and Saturday Jan. 23, 24, 30, and 31 at 7:30 pm, with a Sunday Matinee on Jan. 25 at 2 p.m. All tickets purchased on Wed. Jan. 21 and Thurs. Jan. 22 from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m. are $6 for any performance. 

 Regular ticket prices are $11 for adults, $9 for seniors, $8 for students and $7 for children under 10 – tickets are available at the door one hour prior to performances
