Fire destroys Hungry Horse home
A fire destroyed a home on Fourth Avenue South in Hungry Horse Tuesday night. No one was seriously injured in the blaze, which started in the second story of the house, Hungry Horse Fire Chief Clifford Nelson Jr. said. Firefighters got the call about 10:30 p.m., Nelson said.
A pit bull survived the blaze, Nelson said. The dog was in the floor level of the house and the fire was primarily upstairs. When a firefighter tried to enter the main floor of the house, the dog was growling at him. Firefighters had to get an occupant of the house to get the dog so it wouldn’t bite a firefighter.
Firefighters from Hungry Horse, Coram-West Glacier, Martin City and Hungry Horse and Bad Rock all responded to the blaze. They had the fire out about 12:30 p.m. Nelson said. Firefighters were able to keep the fire from spreading to other structures.
The cause of the blaze is under investigation, Nelson said.
