Jack Woodsen Dorlarque

Jack Woodsen Dorlarque passed away June 24, 2015 in Boise, Idaho after a brief illness with leukemia. He would have been 89 on July 11.

Jack was born July 11, 1926 in Lewistown, Montana.  He was the youngest of nine children born to Edgar F. and Ann (Johnson) Dorlarque.  Jack spent most of his life in various towns of Montana.   The last town the family lived in was Oilmont. At the age of 15 the family moved to Bremerton, Washington where his father found work.  Jack  joined the Navy June 11, 1944 in Farragut, Idaho and was discharged Dec. 2, 1947.  He never saw overseas duty due to a scarlet fever outbreak.  Jack was on a tugboat, the USS Tatnuck and was a member of the Tugboat Association. Jack was also a musician, playing drums  for many years in both Washington  and Montana.

Jack met and married Donna Pierpoint in Coulee City, Washington.  They married in Couer d'Alene, Idaho in 1950.  To this union they had seven children.  The family lived in Coulee City, Washinton, where Jack was the manager of a bulk plant.  About 1970 they moved to Hungry Horse where he purchased the Dew Drop Inn.  He had worked at the Forest Service for a time, but was also employed by Glacier National Park from 1978 to 1986.  Jack and Donna later divorced.  He began to travel and wound up in Arkansas where Jack Jr. lived.   He met Lula Curtis and they married in 1991.  They traveled and were involved in crafts and made many items, such as trains spikes, jewelry and crystal clusters.  They finally landed in Boise, Idaho.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents, and all of his eight brothers and sisters and his son, Jack Jr.   He is survived by his wife Lula of Boise, Idaho; children Peggy (Rick), Dan (Toni), Don (Patti), Janice, Sandra (Chas) and Annette; stepchildren, Penalo (Jeff), Dan (Retha), Mary (Jim), Laurie (Alberto), Melinda (Aaron); several grandchildren and great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Jack never went anywhere he didn't make a new friend or run into someone he knew some way or another.  He will be missed.

No local services are planned.  Jack was cremated and his ashes will be placed at the Veterans Cemetery in Boise, Idaho.   A family memorial will be at the Pierpoint reunion in Coulee City, Washington in August.
