Pints for Paths thanks

| July 22, 2015 7:33 AM

Thanks to everyone who attended the 5th annual Pints for Paths Brewfest at Heaven's Peak. This fundraiser for Gateway to Glacier Trail hosted a record number of attendees more than 550. If you missed this year's event watch for the sixth annual Pints for Paths to be held next July. Check our website to keep updated on our activities; www.gatewaytoglaciertrail.com.

The audience was entertained by live music from Teakettle Mountain, Whiskey Tango, and Montana Souls. Twenty-one breweries participated in this signature event. Bonsai Brewery won the Peoples' Choice award as well as the Judges' Choice. Pioneer Pale Ale from HA Brewery in Eureka won first place, Razzu Raspberry Wheat from Phillipsburg Brewery placed second, and third place went to Hat Trick IPA from Tamarack Brewery.

Many local businesses stepped up to sponsor the event. We cannot thank them enough for helping bring a trail from Columbia Falls to West Glacier. Please support these businesses so we can continue to work on finishing the trail: Heaven's Peak Lodge and Resort, Freedom Bank, Meadow Lake Resort, Vista Motel, Empress Tents and Events, Crown of the Continent Discovery Center, Historic Tamarack Lodge, Hungry Horse Liquor Store, Re/Max Mountain View, Glacier Campground, Great Northern Resort, Glacier Distilling and Belton Chalet.

Here is an update of our projects. Construction will begin soon on the section of trail from Coram to West Glacier. Funds have been ear marked for the section from Columbia Falls to Badrock Canyon through the federal Highway Bill. Montana Department of Highways will provided matching funds needed for that section. We are also working on creating a welcome kiosk for trail users in Hungry Horse at the county park on Hungry Horse Boulevard. This part of our project includes a steel gazebo built from the old steel bridge from Kalispell.

We are always looking for more volunteers. If you are interested in helping us reach our goal of a separated trail from Columbia Falls to West Glacier come to our next meeting, Wednesday, September 2 at 6 p.m. We meet in the basement of Freedom Bank. Check our website to keep updated on our activities; www.gatewaytoglaciertrail.com.

Thanks again to all participants in the fifth annual Pints for Paths fundraiser for Gateway to Glacier Trail. See you at our next event.
