Logan Pass opens
With sunny skies and almost perfect weather, Logan Pass opened to motorists today from the west side only. Crowds were actually light for an opener, finding a parking spot at the Logan Pass parking lot was easy.
Motorists should be aware of delays at Triple Arches, as crews will be working on finishing up masonry on a massive rock wall there through next week. There are also narrow spots on the highway because of damage to rock walls. The Park has placed barriers in those locations and they do take up some highway space.
Snow levels at Logan Pass are much lower than most years, but there is still enough snow for skiing in higher terrain. The road is expected to open its entire length on June 19.
The June 11 opening was nearly a full month sooner than last year’s July 2 opening.
The Park also recognized its 100 millionth visitor as well. Read her story in next week’s Hungry Horse News.
