C-Falls student heads to state geography bee
A Columbia Falls seventh-grader will compete with about 100 other students in the Montana National Geographic Geography Bee in Billings later this month.
Noah Golan won the Columbia Falls Junior High School geography bee earlier this year.
School champions then took a qualifying test which was submitted to the National Geographic Society.
The Society then invited up to 100 of the top-scoring students in each of the 50 states, District of Columbia, Department of Defense Dependents Schools and U.S. territories to compete in the state bees.
If Golan wins the state championship, he’ll get $100, a medal and a trip to Washington, D.C., to represent Montana in the National Geographic Bee Championship at National Geographic Society headquarters on May 11-13.
The national champion will get a $50,000 college scholarship and a lifetime membership to the Society.
