Massage therapist opens business on Nucleus Avenue
A hometown girl has set up a massage therapy business on Nucleus Avenue. Megan Upton graduated from Columbia Falls in 1999 and has spent the past 11 years as a stay-at-home mom, raising her two children, Emma and Noah.
But now that both children are in school, Upton decided to pursue a career in massage therapy, working in the same office as her father, Wayne Jacobsmeyer. He's been a chiropractor in Columbia Falls for 34 years, including 24 years at his current location on Nucleus Avenue.
Upton went through a nine-month program at the Massage Therapy Institute in Kalispell and is certified in neuromuscular therapy.
Her office hours will be from 9 to 1:30 p.m. on Monday through Friday and evenings and weekends by appointment. She also can travel to a client’s home or business. An office visit costs $30 for half an hour, $60 for an hour.
She suggests people get a massage before they visit a chiropractor for treatment.
Upton is married to Andrew Upton, a machinist at Precision Engineering. The two have known each other all their lives and were high school sweethearts, she said.
Upton said the help she gives people through massage is rewarding work.
“I have an opportunity every day to change the course of someone’s life,†she said. “It’s nice to see them hop off the table a new person.â€
