Edward Sherle

Edward John Sherle, 86, passed away on May 10, 2015, after a long illness.

He was born Sept. 25, 1928, in Laredo, Texas to John and Teresa Sherle, the youngest of nine children.

Edward served in the Army and was stationed in Korea in 1952 and 1953. After his discharge from the Army, he went to work for the Great Northern Railroad as a pipefitter in Whitefish.

On Sept. 28, 1962, he married Annie Lou Goss. Following their marriage they, along with Annie’s three daughters, were transferred by Great Northern to Seattle, where he worked until his retirement in 1988.

Edward and Annie returned to Montana in October 1989 and made their home in Columbia Falls until Annie’s death in 2001. Annie and Eddie were inseparable and after her death he lost the will to live.

Edward was preceded in death by his parents; five sisters, Elsie, Anne, Lydia, Clara and Ida; three brothers, Otto, Walter and Ted; and his wife Annie of 43 years.

He is survived by stepdaughters Margaret, of Newport Beach, Calif., Carolyn, of Cle Elum, Wash., and Christine, of Lake Oswego, Ore.; three granddaughters; seven great grandchildren; sister-in-law Evelyn Syth, of Kalispell; and many nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at Columbia Mortuary in Columbia Falls on Saturday, May 16 (Annie’s birthday) at 3 p.m. with a viewing one hour prior to services.
