TRACK & FIELD: Bigfork girls win host invitational

BIGFORK — Logan Morley ran a pair of blistering races for the Vikings but it was the Bigfork girls who stole the show, winning the team title at the Bigfork Invitational on Saturday.

The hosts’ girls team finished with 122 points, well clear of second place Seeley-Swan and Plains, who each totaled 80.

Bigfork girls won five races: Haile Norred (400, 1:01.55), Bryn Morley (800, 2:22.23), Mattison McAnally (300 hurdles, 47.36) and Anya Young (1,600, 5:37.51 and 3,200, 12:12.7).

Bigfork’s two relay teams also claimed victories along with Gabby Eaton in the pole vault (8-6).

Libby finished fifth in the team scoring (43) and Whitefish sixth (36.5).

On the boys side, Logan Morley won the 800 (2:03.17) and 1,600 (4:33.25), posting the second-quickest time in the state this year in each event. Morley’s efforts helped Bigfork to a fourth place team finish.

Thompson Falls won the meet with 132 points. Whitefish (91) was second, Eureka (87.5) third and Troy (46) sixth.

Troy senior Sean Opland picked up four individual wins, finishing first in the 100 (11.54), 200 (23.4), 400 (52.0) and the high jump (6-2).
