Fred Fellows Jr., 54

| August 3, 2016 10:45 AM

Fred Fellows Jr. passed away Saturday night, July 30, 2016, at Kalispell Regional Medical Center.

Fred was born in Cypress, California, in 1962 to Fred and Jackie Fellows, their fifth child and only son following sisters Michele, Kim, Lori and Rhonda. The family moved to Bigfork in 1964.

Following graduation from Bigfork High School in 1980, Fred attended Devry Automotive College in Phoenix.

In 1982 he was employed as a commercial fisherman in Alaska, which sparked his lifelong passion for marine life.

In 1985 he worked for Kalispell Art Casting and learned the skills for casting sculpture. That year he cast his first marine bronze, the first of many that are in many private collections on the mainland and Hawaii.

In 1990 Deborah, his stepmother and new sister Fabienne became family.

In 1996 Fred was blessed with the true joy of his life his son, Daniel, whom he raised alone. Daniel graduated from Bigfork High School in 2014 and is now a junior majoring in Occupational Safety and Health Administration at Montana Tech in Butte. During the years of Daniel’s education in Bigfork, Fred worked for Flathead Lake Lodge to provide for him and Daniel.

In 2014, Fred in his empty nest turned back to his love of sculpture, encouraged by Joe and Patty Pastor. He worked for four years at Mountain Lake Lodge and sculpted at night.

This July the Collage Studio in Bigfork featured his art collection and newest work, a masterfully designed kinetic sculpture of a sea turtle … the last he would produce.

Freddy will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

“He is now in God’s arms.”
