Kats extend streak to 7 straight
The Columbia Falls girls basketball team just keeps on rolling through the competition.
The Wildkats hammered Class B Eureka Saturday at home, 72-33 to extend their record to 7-0. The girls were led by Peyton Kehr who had 20 points off the bench. Kehr went 5 for 6 from beyond the three-point line.
“She’s shooting the ball very well,” said coach Cary Finberg. “But I’m also happy with the improvement in the other parts of her game.”
Kehr also had three rebounds and two assists in the win. Kiara Burlage, Cydney Finberg and Ellie Johnson also had good nights. Burlage was 5-for-5 shooting and had six rebounds; Finberg had seven assists, three steals and eight points and Johnson six assists and five steals as the Kats had a dominant defensive effort.
“When we move the ball, we’re pretty good,” Finberg said.
Having said that, Finberg sees room for improvement.
“I don’t think we’re playing quite as well as we’re capable of,” he said. “But we’re heading in a positive direction.”
The girls play Libby at home Friday at 6 p.m. and Polson at home Saturday at 5:30 p.m.
