The East Side Reservoir Road, Forest Road No. 38, and the Meadow Creek Road, Forest Road No. 2826, will be closed during the week to all motorized use, including vehicle and snowmobile traffic.

The roads will be open for snowmobile use on the weekends. Parking for winter recreation on Road No. 38 will be available at the Desert Mountain parking area just outside Martin City or at the junction of the Abbott Bay Road about five miles south of Martin City.

The road restrictions are in place for public safety during winter logging operations in the Cedar Chipmunk Timber Sale area on the Spotted Bear Ranger District. Log hauling will take place Monday through Friday during the winter along the plowed East Side Reservoir and Meadow Creek Roads.

The Forest Service advises that travelers use caution on the plowed roads by staying along the right side, traveling in single file and riding at a prudent speed. The timber sale operators will not haul on weekends, though they may plow and be doing other work. The roads will be open from Friday at 6 p.m. to Monday at 12:01 a.m. for over-the-snow traffic.

For more information about the closed roads, contact the Hungry Horse/Glacier View or Spotted Bear Ranger Districts at 406-387-3800.
