Tickets on sale now for Polson film festival
Tickets are on sale now for the Flathead Lake International Cinemafest (FLIC), Jan. 22-24 in Polson. Tickets can be purchased online at www.flicpolson.com or at Showboat Cinemas. Tickets purchased online can be picked up at Showboat Cinemas, 416 Main St. in Polson, during regular business hours, or on Friday, Jan. 22, when the will-call table is open at the KwaTaqNuk Resort lower level from 4 to 6:30 p.m. After 6:30 p.m. the will-call table will move to the Chamber of Commerce next door to the Showboat Cinemas.
A $90 All-Access Pass covers the $40 opening night party, which includes hors d’oeuvres and drinks, and entrance into all 60 weekend films. Individual film-block tickets are $5 each. Film blocks vary in length from one-and-a-half to two-and-a-half hours.
FLIC film schedules can be viewed online at www.flicpolson.com, picked up at Showboat Cinemas, and at local area businesses.
FLIC officially kicks off at 5 p.m., Friday, Jan. 22, with an opening night party at the KwaTaqNuk Resort. This year’s theme is “Cinema Royale — 00FLIC.” Steve Fetveit, NBC Montana, will again emcee the party. Attendees are encouraged to wear James Bond attire, which can include dressing as their favorite Bond villain. For those attending the 7 p.m. screenings, the party wraps-up by 6:45 p.m. allowing time to get to the theater, but those not attending the screenings can party on until 7:30 p.m. The festival will present on both Showboat Cinemas screens.
Saturday at 8:30 a.m. a free family movie screening of “Paddington” will show on both screens. This popular event is sure to please all ages. Attendees are encouraged to show up in their pajamas and enjoy a free breakfast provided by the Polson Rotary Club. No advance tickets are available, and seating is on a first-come, first-served basis.
Weekend highlights include eight question and answer sessions with filmmakers immediately following screenings of their films. A 2015 favorite film, “Orphan Girl,” will be screened at 11 p.m., Friday. The film sponsor Headframe Spirits, a Butte distillery, will serve samples in the lobby before and after the showing.
On Saturday evening there will be a no-host after party, where the general public can meet filmmakers, at the Vine and Tap, 218 Main St., beginning at 10:30 p.m.
The festival closes with an Awards Show from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 24, at Showboat Cinemas. Dessert will be served, and approximately 20 awards will be handed out in various categories.
