State officials have extended the window for public comments on a draft water quality permit for a proposed water bottling plant near Creston, while a public hearing is still scheduled for Aug. 1.

The Montana Department of Environmental Quality announced Tuesday it would push the comment deadline for the Montana Artesian Water Co.’s draft discharge permit from Aug. 5 to Aug. 15 after posting the wrong fact sheet on its website this month.

In a press release, department spokeswoman Lisa Peterson explained that the online error lasted from July 15 to 20 and was corrected as soon as it was discovered.

All relevant documents, including the draft permit, fact sheet and environmental assessment, are available for public review and comment atdeq.mt.gov/Public/notices/wqnotices.

A public hearing will be held as planned at 6 p.m. Monday, Aug. 1, in the Creston School gymnasium.

Comments may be submitted by mail to: DEQ Water Protection Bureau, P.O. Box 200901, Helena, MT 59620-0901, or by email toDEQWPBPublicComments@mt.gov.
