Duford's hat trick leads Polson over Valkyries
BIGFORK — Bigfork keeper Celeste Rehbein made 21 saves but it was not enough as Polson’s Tiara Duford potted three goals to lead the Pirates to a 3-0 Northern A conference win on Tuesday afternoon.
The Pirates (6-1-0, 3-0-0 Northern A) peppered the Bigfork net with 24 shots but were held off the scoreboard for 52 straight minutes after Duford beat Rehbein for a goal in the first minute of the contest.
Duford added goals in the 53rd and 71st minutes, both assisted by Amber Clarke. Duford, a senior, now has 20 goals in seven matches this season.
Bigfork (0-7-0, 0-4-0) managed four shots on goal but each one was turned aside by Polson’s Jenna Evertz.
The Pirates return to action Saturday at Whitefish at 5 p.m. in a matchup of the conference’s two co-leaders. Bigfork stays home to take on Libby Thursday at 3 p.m.
