A Columbia Falls man admitted on March 30 to attacking his parents with a fishing spear in April 2016.

Braden Kyle Scott, 22, was sentenced to five years in prison after pleading guilty to two counts of felony assault with a weapon before Flathead District Court Judge Robert Allison.

According to court records, a Columbia Falls Police officer responded to a residence, which he recognized from an assault report the night before.

The residents told the officer that their son, identified as Scott, had allegedly come at them with a fishing spear. Though no one was injured, the couple said they were afraid he was going to kill them.

Authorities arrested Scott on the warrant issued from the incident that occurred the night before.
