Warner Augustus 'Bud' Hatten, 85
Warner Augustus “Bud” Hatten passed away peacefully at home April 2, 2017, at the age of 85.
Born Jan. 17, 1932, in McKinney, Texas, to parents Warner A. Hatten Sr. and Cora Hatten, he grew to love all things electronic and became a talented electronics and computer engineer. He served in the United States Air Force and upon being honorably discharged worked most of his adult life in a career that spanned four decades in Silicon Valley. Though a small cog in a giant wheel, he played an important role in the advances of electronic and computer technology of the latter 20th century and the technological revolution that swept the world.
He met, fell in love with and married Clarin Patricia Brooks April 15, 1961. Together they raised two children and had a very long and happy marriage of 34 years until her death in 1995.
Bud was happily remarried for the last 15 years of his life and is survived by his wife, Judy Hatten, of Kalispell, his son Marc Hatten and daughter-in-law Eileen Hatten of Huson, his daughter Sherry Willis and son-in-law David Willis of Carmichael, California, his grandchildren Steven Hatten, Richard Hatten, and Kelli Buck, great- grandchildren Olivia and Elle Hatten, his brother Leroy Hatten of Plano, Texas, stepchildren Kip Moran, Dan Moran and his wife Cheryl, as well as so many others including numerous extended family and friends.
Bud had a kind and gentle soul and was truly a nice person, someone who never had a bad word to say about anyone and liked everyone he met. He had been a member of the Elks Club and a 50-year member of the Freemasons, with local membership at the Masonic Lodge No. 42 in Kalispell.
A viewing will take place from noon to 2 p.m. Friday, April 7, with services to begin at 2 p.m. Immediately following the service family and friends are welcome to gather at a local restaurant (to be determined) to celebrate his life and reminisce about this wonderfully good and decent man who will be missed by all. Burial will be the following day, 11 a.m. Saturday, April 8, at Conrad Cemetery in Kalispell.
