Flathead, Glacier sweep G-Falls duals

It ended in a flurry of hail and graupel, but before the storm came, Flathead thoroughly dominated Great Falls in a track dual on Friday at Legends Stadium, with both the boys and girls winning handily.

The Flathead boys won all but two events, with the biggest marks set from junior thrower Michael Lee. Lee won both the shot put and discus, qualifying for state in the discus with a throw of 149 feet, 2 inches and throwing a season-best 48-7 1/4 in the shot.

Dawson Rinehart won both the 110- and 300-meter hurdles and Ben Perrin just missed out on a qualifying mark in the 1,600, finishing 0.39 seconds short as the Braves won the dual 113-31.

Flathead’s Morgann Blanc won both the girls shot put and discus and Madde Boles had three second-place finishes for the Bravettes, who won their dual 92-52.

Great Falls’ Morgan Evans, who swept the hurdles at last year’s state meet, won the 100, 200 and 100 hurdles at the dual, posting state qualifying times in the 100 and 100 hurdles.

Glacier-Great Falls Dual

GREAT FALLS — Glacier swept Great Falls C.M. Russell on the road, putting up high marks early in the season.

Glacier jumper Hunter Nicholson won the boys long and triple jumps, posting state qualifying marks in each. Nicholson leapt 20 feet, 10 inches in the long jump and 42-8 in the triple jump.

Glacier senior Tadan Gilman posted a qualifying mark in the javelin, winning the event with a throw of 181-6 as the Wolfpack topped CMR 89-55.

The Glacier girls edged CMR 74-70, winning 8 of 17 events.

Adrian Schnee won the 400 and the high jump, posting a state qualifying mark in the latter by clearing 5-1. Nikki Krueger won the shot put and discus with season-bests in both events, increasing her state-best mark in the shot.
