Janet Arleen McConville, 75

Janet Arleen McConville, 75, of Columbia Falls, passed away Saturday, April 8, 2017, following a courageous fight with cancer and COPD. “With family by her side, and God in her heart, Janet made the final journey to be with her parents, two brothers, her sister, her son and daughter and two grandsons.”

Born in Denton, Montana, Janet lived a full and adventurous life in which she first married at 18, raising three daughters and a son, while her husband served our country in the U.S. Navy. Following a divorce, she met and married Matt McConville on July 9, 1983, which lead to over 33 years of experiencing life in Montana, Alaska, Washington, Oregon, Idaho and eventually back home to the Flathead Valley. Over the years, Janet worked as a nurse’s aid, chemical dependency counselor, property manager, business owner and, her most cherished of commitments, as a volunteer in many organizations and capacities. Janet was a member of the Columbia Falls United Methodist Church, and was most humbled by her call from God to create the Columbia Falls Christmas Day Dinner, which she hosted for the last four years. Janet simply believed that no person should spend Christmas alone, and because of that belief, she served well over 200 individual meals to members of her beloved community.

Janet leaves behind her husband, Matt, two daughters, Rita and her husband Dan Leeseburg, and Darla and her husband, Darin Wilson; six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, April 13, at the Columbia Falls United Methodist Church, with Pastor Dawn Skerritt officiating. A burial will take place at Woodlawn Cemetery followed by a reception at the church. 

Janet so believed in volunteering that the family requests donations be made to a nonprofit organization in the Columbia Falls area.
