| April 12, 2017 7:07 PM

Donald Lynn Seward, 62, passed away peacefully at his home in Kalispell on April 4, 2016.

Don was preceded in death by his grandparents, Floyd and Alice Seward; grandparents, Alfred and Mable Kjos; father, William “Bill” Seward; and nephew, Dan Benson.

Don is survived by his mother, Jane Seward, of Kalispell; daughter, Torey Seward, of Columbia Falls; son, Grey Seward, of Columbia Falls; daughter, Courtney Burley (Branden Burley), and cherished grandson, Brantley Burley, of Hampton, Virginia; brother, David Seward (Yvette Seward) of Cody, Wyoming; sister, Paula Benson (Monty Benson) of Kalispell; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. He will be missed by all of his family and many friends.

Don was born on Oct. 18, 1954, in Kalispell and grew up in the great outdoors of Montana. He was an avid hunter and fisherman all his life, so there was never a shortage of hunting and fishing trip adventures and stories of Don with his family and friends. He attended Hedges and Cayuse Prairie elementary schools and graduated from Flathead High School in 1973.

On Feb. 14, 1975, Don joined the United States Army and served in the 227th Avn Co 1st Cav Div FORSCOM. After completing his service, he was honorably discharged on June 5, 1979. Later he attended the University of Missoula before returning to Flathead Valley Community College to finish his education in surveying. He spent a year living in Alaska and working as a surveyor, before returning to his home in the Flathead and began working at Plum Creek MDF plant, from which he retired in 2014. He loved his relaxing and uncomplicated days as a retiree, and spent his time taking cross-country trips to visit his kids, cheering on the Griz every fall in their home stadium, going for rides on his Harley when the weather was nice and, of course, hunting and fishing with family and friends.

A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 15, at Glacier Memorial Gardens, 2659 Hwy. 93 N., Kalispell. Service will be followed by a celebration of life at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 400 W. California St., Kalispell.

In lieu of flowers or contributions, the family suggests donations be made to a veteran charity of your choice.
