Auditions next week for Black Curtain Theatre's 'Luna Gale'

| April 13, 2017 2:00 AM

The Whitefish Theatre Co. is holding auditions for its final Black Curtain Theatre production of the 2016-17 season, “Luna Gale,” April 16 and 17 at 7 p.m.

Auditions will be held at the O’Shaughnessy Center in Whitefish and actors are asked to arrive early to the Green Room on the north side of the building to fill out an audition application and review the script.

“LUNA GALE,” written by Rebecca Gilman, is a tale of faith and forgiveness. Caroline, a veteran social worker, thinks she has a typical case on her hands when she meets Peter and Karlie, two teenage drug addicts accused of neglecting their baby named Luna Gale. But when Caroline places their infant daughter in the care of Karlie’s mother, she sparks a family conflict that exposes a shadowy, secretive past — and forces her to make a risky decision with potentially disastrous consequences. According to the Chicago Reader, “Luna Gale” is “a compelling and compassionate portrait of flawed people making impossible choices.”

Gilman has written three other plays, including the successful “The Glory of Living” and “Blue Surge.”

The cast will be composed of three men and four women, ages 18 through early 60s. No experience or preparation is necessary to audition. Pages from the script will be provided.

Scott Plotkin is the director for this production. As a Black Curtain show, actors will remain on book during performances and there will be minimal costumes and set. There will be a total of nine rehearsals and one tech night on May 5.

The show will be performed over one weekend, May 6 and 7.
