Gene Harrison, 82

Gene Harrison, 82, passed away on April 11, 2017, in Kalispell.

He was preceded in death by one sister, and his parents, Wayne and Myrtle Harrison.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley, of Kalispell; his son, Terry Harrison, of Sacramento, California; daughters, Sharron Darrow of Martinez, California, and Paula Weber of Kalispell; brother, Roger Harrison, of Sacramento; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Gene was born on Aug. 27, 1934, in Portola, California. He was raised in the mountains of Quincy, California. During his youth, he worked for his dad’s business as a truck driver and also a parts man for a local garage. Later, he worked for the California State Printing Office printing books for the public schools. He also worked for various propane companies as a truck driver, salesman or manager in the states of California, Oregon, Idaho and Washington.

Gene loved being around people and making them laugh, sunny weather, technology and Western music. As a Christian, he always loved being involved in a church. When he was younger he enjoyed horseback riding, boats and water skiing. In Oregon, he got into Jeep off-road dirt racing. He loved spending time with friends over a cup of coffee.

A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 15, at Bethel Baptist Church, 936 Fourth Avenue West.
