BIGFORK — Libby sophomore Ryggs Johnston continued his torrid start to the golf season, carding a 5-under-par 67 to win the Steve Hullett Memorial by 14 strokes on Thursday at Eagle Bend Golf Club.

Johnston bettered his winning score from last year’s tournament by one stroke to thoroughly dominate the field, helping the Loggers to a third place finish in the process.

Bigfork’s Colton Stodghill finished second with an 81 and Missoula Loyola’s Bucky Crippen third with an 82 in less than ideal weather that switched between rain and drizzle all day.

Ronan won the boys team title, bolstered by a sixth place performance from Anthony Camel, who shot an 85. Bigfork finished in fourth as a team.

Loyola took the top three spots in the girls tournament to run away with the team title.

Kylie Esh took medalist honors with a 5-over 77, Isadora Tornazeli was second with an 82 and Katie Fagg third with an 86.

Bigfork’s Isabella Santistevan finished in seventh with a 97 as the host Vals finished third as a team.
