An unoccupied cabin was destroyed in a blaze on a property on Wild Bill Road near Kila Sunday evening.

Smith Valley firefighters responding to the call arrived on scene at around 6 p.m. to find the structure completely engulfed.

With assistance from the South Kalispell and Marion fire departments, crews managed to put out the fire and begin knocking down the three blackened walls left standing within 10 minutes of their arrival, according to Smith Valley Fire Chief Amy Bieck.

According to Bieck, the owner of the cabin had been burning a small brush pile in front of the structure. It is believed an ember was responsible for starting the blaze.

No one was injured as a result of the fire.
