Jean Posey Moore, 80

| April 22, 2017 8:11 PM

Jean Posey Moore entered this world on July 21, 1936, at the family home in Chicago. She was the daughter of Ernest and Kathryn Posey. She had one sister, Patricia Wood (Bob), and a brother, Thomas Posey (Betty).

Jean attended both grade and high school in Chicago. Upon graduation from high school she attended nurses training at Illinois Masonic Hospital in Chicago, graduating with honors. Jean was employed as an industrial nurse at the Cook Electric Tech Center where she met Bob. They were married on Aug. 30, 1958, and lived in Chicago for 13 years. They have two daughters: Julie, born in 1961, and Jennifer, born in 1964. She was a stay-at-home mom until the girls were both in school. She then took a refresher course and worked in the emergency room at Loretto Hospital. In 1971, Jean and Bob migrated to Kalispell where she was employed at the Family Medical Associates Clinic. Jean was also on the medical team during the filming of the movie “Heaven’s Gate.” She was a top notch nurse receiving many commendations from doctors, hospitals and the University of Washington WWAMI program.

After the girls were educated, grown and gone, Jean and Bob decided to do something different. They both retired in 1991 and Bob took a position with Nortel Networks. They took their show on the road with travel and work. During this time, both girls married: Julie to Michael Madden and Jennifer to Tim Goodwin. They each have one son, Joshua Madden and Benjamin Goodwin. Bob and Jean, over the next ten years, worked and traveled out in the Pacific Ocean to Pohnpei, Guam, Hawaii, and then north to Alaska, and all over the Pacific Northwest. They found Bayview, Idaho, in 1999 and built their retirement home overlooking Lake Pend Oreille and the surrounding mountains. They loved to travel by car and train seeing the countryside as they went.

In the fall of 2014 Lewy Body Dementia with Parkinson’s reared its ugly head taking Jean on a slow, devastating journey ending on April 19, 2017.

She leaves behind her loving family and many friends from around the country to gather together and celebrate her life sometime in late summer, on a date yet to be determined.

Bob and family request donations be made to: Hospice of North Idaho, 9493 N. Government Way, Hayden, ID 83835 in Jean’s name.
