Students inducted into Spanish, French honor societies
Twenty-nine Glacier High School students were inducted into the national Spanish and French honor societies Monday.
Students inducted into the national French Honor Society include Kajia Coziahr, Garrett Hill, Robert Hurly, Natasha Johnson, Taylor Kraemer, Jenna McCrorie, Téa Mergenthaler, Meredith Miele, Brigham Pitts, Shay Reynolds, Abigail Roston, Raphael Russell Jr., Jamison Seymour, Elizabeth Tripp, Joseph Vanden-Bos, Lynette Vogel and Delaney Wilson.
Students inducted into the national Spanish Honor Society are Lindsay Creighton, Keegan Siebenaler, Annie Hill, Anna Schrade, Kristen Toren, Galvin Ness, Harrison Rennie, Taylor Fortin, Logan Smith, Isabelle Thomas, Emma Trunkle and Brooke Mills.
Eligible students are in at least their third year of foreign language study, have an “A” average in their current language class, have a 3.5 or higher cumulative average in previous language classes and have a 3.0 or higher overall grade-point average during the semester of induction.
Eighteen students who achieved Glacier’s International Language Academy Distinction were also be recognized. Students receiving the designation are graduating seniors who complete classes with and emphasis in French or Spanish and include Madison Armstrong, Sophie Binstein, Corinne Bernheim, Tyler Brockman, Kennedi Fisher, Libby Hill, Emily Kern, Nathan Lorenc, Rachel Maher, Jessica McManus, Téa Mergenthaler, Jordan Steffen, Marin Stencel, Stephanie Swope, Abigail Vanorny, Kendall Warner, Sidney Whitlock and Alexandra Wright.
Kalispell Middle School teacher Michele Tohtz was selected by students to receive the Friend of Languages Award for showing exemplary support of International Language learning, teaching and culture in the Flathead Valley.
Tohtz was chosen for inspiring middle school students to continue studying languages with enthusiasm at the high school level.
