Crown of the Continent Choir taking stage in Whitefish

The Crown of the Continent Choir and Headwaters Ensemble, under the direction of Craig Hodges, will perform “Music of the Spheres, Song and Image in Harmony” in a fundraising event Saturday, May 13 at Whitefish’s O’Shaughnessy Center.

Admission is free but good-will donations will be accepted. All donations are tax-deductable.

Doors open at 6 p.m. for a silent auction, with the concert starting at 7 p.m. Intermission will include ice cream from Sweet Peaks, and beverages.

The concert features the interplay of song and sight, with the music accompanied by John Ashley’s photography of the night sky over Glacier National Park. Ashley is a conservationist and award winning photographer whose camera has portrayed the natural beauty and humor that is inherent in wild places and wild critters. The Crown of the Continent Choir is a seven-year-old non-audition community choir whose mission is “We sing for fun. We also sing for social justice, environmental stewardship, spiritual fulfillment and community service.”

“Choir members join for many reasons,” Hodges said. “Some simply love to sing, others dream of building community. Some seek opportunities for spiritual growth and expression, others to advocate for social justice and environmental sustainability.”
