Donald L. Fry, 89

| April 27, 2017 6:41 PM

Donald L. Fry, 89, was born June 4, 1927, in Kalispell and passed away April 20, 2017, in Whitefish.

The third of five children to Louis E. Fry and Caroline (Wilhelm) Fry, Don grew up in Kalispell. After high school Don enlisted in the Navy becoming a member of the Seabees. Upon returning home he went to work for the Bonner Lumber Company becoming a cabinet maker.

He married Carla Herzog Dec. 23, 1953. They had two sons. With a partner he started The Cabinet Shop and later the Kalispell Truss Center. Don was a hard-working family man but also gave back to the community. He touched many lives coaching Little League baseball for 43 consecutive years.

He was preceded in death by his wife Carla, and his sons Terry and Tim.

He is survived by his granddaughter Angel Mae Fry, great- granddaughter Layla Calhoun, a sister Carol (Fry) Sloan and extended family.

Don enjoyed socializing. He had a great sense of humor and was a hit with the ladies; he even flirted with the nurses up to the day he passed away. His granddaughter Angel Fry and great-granddaughter Layla Calhoun lived with him and cared for him for almost 15 years. They were very close and took care of one another because his wife and two sons all passed way too early in life, leaving Donald and Angel and then Layla Calhoun the only ones left in the Fry family. He will be greatly missed and always thought about.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Johnson-Gloschat Funeral Home and Crematory is caring for the Fry family.
