ARM track attracts 14 teams from four classes

The Daily Inter Lake

Fourteen schools will compete in the 20th annual Akey, Rosenberg, Murphy (ARM) Track Meet today in Whitefish beginning at 10 a.m.

This is the first of three big Saturday invitational track events before divisional and state competition.

Archie Roe follows in Flathead on May 6 with the Polson ABC Meet May 13.

The ARM is one of the largest sporting events Whitefish hosts every year. This edition will feature Class AA, A, B and C teams from Western Montana.

The oldest ARM records on the books were set in 2000 by two Polson star athletes.

Bree Fuqua set the girls shot put mark at 43 feet, 9 inches.

Trevor Gunlock established boys meet standards in the pole vault, 14-6, and long jump, 22-3.

Three new records were set last year — Carly Vonheeder of Plains in the javelin, 137-2, Abi Fiske of Glacier in the triple jump, 36-4 1/2, and the Glacier boys 400 relay team of Drew Turner, Ethan Larson, Scout Willcut and Aaron Robinson with a time of 43.17.

Taking team titles at last year’s meet were the Glacier girls and Columbia Falls boys.
