Jan Marie Taylor, 65

| August 1, 2017 6:46 PM

Jan Marie Taylor passed away on Saturday, July 22, 2017, at her home on Lake Pend Oreille, Idaho.

Services will be held in Kalispell on Saturday, Aug. 19.

Jan was born May 21, 1952, in Kalispell to Merle and Hazel Wetterhus. At the age of 10, she became part of the Henricksen family. She loved her stepfather Pink and later took his last name. She graduated from Flathead High School in 1970, then Business College in Vancouver, British Columbia, and returned to Kalispell where she worked in tax preparation and bookkeeping.

Jan married William Taylor June 30, 1979, in Somers. Jan, Bill and their son Brandon lived in Sandpoint, Idaho, while working on a project for the design of the “new” Longbridge and decided Sandpoint was a place they’d like to someday live. Jan, Bill and Brandon lived in Billings, Great Falls and Boise, Idaho, and spent 26 years in Las Vegas, where Jan worked for a U.S. Congressman on his campaign as his assistant treasurer and a staff representative.

Jan was always very socially active. In high school she was captain of the drill team and a cheerleader. In Billings, she was on the Billings Heights Little League board, ran the concession stand, and was active in Junior League, where she participated in numerous charities. Jan was past president of the Las Vegas Valley Women’s Club. Everywhere the Taylors went, Jan was active in various societies and organizations related to Bill’s work.

In 2016, Jan and Bill retired and fulfilled their dream to return to Sandpoint and built their lake home in Camp Bay. Jan was an expert boatman, water and snow skied, logged many miles river rafting, and traveled extensively throughout the western U.S. She loved the lake, and she loved good times.

Most of all, Jan was a people person; Jan loved people and people loved her. She loved to cook and entertain family and friends. Brandon and his wife Andrea blessed Jan with two grandboys, Carson and Jason, and this group of four were the lights of her life.

She is survived by Bill; Brandon, Andrea, Carson (13), and Jason (11) Taylor; two sisters, Katie (Randy) Gneiting of Columbus, Montana, and Carol England of Boise; two brothers, Gordon (Ann) Henricksen of Ronan, and Rick (Kat) Jones of Ukiah, Oregon; and nieces, a nephew, and great-nieces and -nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother Tom Jones.

In lieu of flowers, please send a donation to Eagle Mount-Billings.
