Two local manufacturing companies have asked Flathead County for tax incentives offered through a county resolution for new or expanding industries.

The county commissioners will hold public hearings for both requests on Tuesday, Aug. 15, beginning at 9:15 a.m.

Total Label USA, located northwest of Whitefish, is seeking tax benefits for $202,089 worth of new construction. The label company started in Tennessee as Resource Label Group and expanded to rural Whitefish in 2004.

Nomad Global Communications Solutions and KK+B Partnership, operating at 5420 U.S. 2 W. near Columbia Falls, are asking for tax benefits for $890,000 worth of new construction. Founded in 2002, Nomad provides end-to-end production of specialty vehicles such as mobile command centers, communication vehicles and trailers.

The incentive, aimed at encouraging business investment, taxes the added value at 50 percent for the first five years. In the sixth year the business pays 60 percent of its tax liability, then continues the phased plan until it pays 100 percent in the 10th year.
