Woman gets barking mad over animal cruelty

After discovering a dog left in a car with the windows cracked, a woman allegedly became upset and left the scene, saying she intended to return with a hammer to break the window. Whitefish Police told the reporting person that if the woman came back to advise her to call them before breaking the window. They advised the caller to inform the woman that breaking the window would result in the report changing from animal cruelty to more serious charges against her. Officers arrived and located the dog in the car, determining it was never in distress.

A concerned citizen reportedly contacted police after seeing a decorative gas fire burning at the entrance of a gated neighborhood. Officers contacted security for the neighborhood and informed them of the fire restrictions currently in place. The fire has since been turned off.

A man reported a fight between himself and an old acquaintance. The other man allegedly ran up and pulled the caller out of his vehicle and started hitting him. The reporting person said he then got out of his vehicle and “beat the crap” out of him. The acquaintance was allegedly picked up by his girlfriend and taken to the hospital. The girlfriend then reported the incident herself, saying the man had to have a brain scan and was in “bad condition.”

A power outage was reported on Dakota Avenue after a resident allegedly saw a “large burst of flames.” According to Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, the outage affected a whole block of houses. Flathead Electric Co-op was called to fix the problem. The cause was undetermined.

A man on Farm to Market Road was arrested on a $50,000 warrant on a partner/family member assault charge after allegedly assaulting a woman with a weapon.

A woman wanted on a $70,000 warrant was reportedly found sleeping in a ditch. The woman reportedly awoke and attempted to flee the officer by running into the woods. The officer apprehended the woman and took her into custody for previous charges of obstructing justice, possession of drugs and bail jumping, and a new charge of resisting arrest.

An intoxicated woman allegedly called deputies to inform them she was tired of kids who were at her residence. It was unclear whether the kids belonged to her or not.

Two black labs were reportedly found running at large on East Reserve Drive. Both dogs were wearing shock collars and one was injured. A Flathead County Sheriff’s deputy took the dogs to the county shelter.

A collie was seen running on Walsh Road. Deputies were unable to catch the dog.

A resident of Kings Way called to report two teenagers for riding a motorcycle that was not street legal up and down the road. Officers responded and the teens’ mother reportedly answered the door. When confronted about her kids and the legality of the bike, she denied the deputies access to her shed where the bike was contained, telling them she did not want them to see inside. When told the bike had to be registered and legal in order for her kids to ride the bike in the road, the woman complained that other kids were doing it. The deputies advised the woman to call when that happens and they would handle that as well, but if her kids were caught riding an illegal bike in the road again, the bike would be towed and tickets issued.

A home burglary was reported at a residence on Brunner Road. Several items of value were taken.

A group of kids were seen jumping off a bridge and making it difficult for vehicles to pass. When one driver confronted the kids, attempting to get them to move, the kids allegedly attempted to climb on top of the person’s car. All parties were counseled.

A man was reportedly seen walking around a gas station store, shuffling items and carrying a baby car seat that was completely covered. Employees stated they believed the man was stealing items and putting them into the car seat. When confronted, the man allegedly dropped the car seat and fled the building without any merchandise. The car seat was found to be baby-free.

A Two Bear Air helicopter was requested to help rescue a 16-year-old who was lost in the “backcountry.” The teen was found safe and air lifted out.

Someone was reported for allegedly leaving their dog inside a hot car for over an hour, according to Kalispell Police.

A child’s bike was reported stolen. The bike was described as having a bell with a sticker on it that said “I love my bike.”

A dog reportedly jumped its neighbor’s fence in order to play with the kids next door. The dog allegedly knocked the kids over and was seen urinating on their toys.

Multiple incidences of suspected drug activity was reported on 11th Street.
