Police receive tip on bear spray incident

Someone called the Whitefish Police Department to report they may have information on “the bear spray incident” in a local park. On Thursday, a parent reported their child incurred chemical burns on their back and legs after playing at the Kiddie Park in Whitefish. The park was closed Thursday so the bear spray could be cleaned off the equipment.

A man was reportedly sitting near the Post Office with his legs spread, exposing his private parts. The man was described as in his 50s with dark hair and possibly homeless.

Multiple residents phoned in to complain about an alleged loud concert that was reportedly disturbing the peace. Officers contacted the bar in question shortly before 9 p.m. and advised them not to use profanities, or the event would be shut down. An hour later, law enforcement shut the concert down.

The Smith Valley Fire Department responded to two structure fires: The first was reported at 6:55 p.m. Friday on Valley View Drive, while the second fire was reported at 1:08 a.m. Saturday morning on Hoffman Draw.

A caller reported their child was being defiant and would leave home for days at a time and was reportedly drinking alcohol. The individual requested advice on how to deal with their child from an officer. An officer spoke with the caller.

An individual reportedly disembarked a train traveling from North Dakota to Flathead County and told dispatch they had $20 in their pocket and nowhere to go. The man asked what his options would be for a place to stay where he wouldn’t be asked to move along. Dispatch advised the caller.

A female reportedly smacked another individual in the face before heading off to a local bar. The reporting party stated the incident occurred after they told the suspect’s friend that her husband allegedly left the bar with another girl.
