Best Food at the Fair contest results
406 Bar and Grill in Kalispell won top honors at the inaugural Best Food at the Fair contest at the Northwest Montana Fair and Rodeo.
406 Bar and Grill won for its garlic bread bowl filled with spaghetti, homemade marinara sauce and topped with a special recipe meatball and fresh grated parmesan cheese.
Island Noodles took second place for its gluten free, fresh vegetable slaw with wok-fried Asian chicken.
Whitefish VFW placed third for its hand-rubbed, grilled half chicken.
Chief judge was chef Louie Bertino from the Montana Culinary Institute at Flathead Valley Community College.
“All of the entrees that vendors gave us to sample were very good and it was a difficult choice to narrow it to just three,” Bertino said. “The three did take top honors are exceptional and worth coming to the Fair just to enjoy.”
