Young, Whitefish girls win Corvallis meet

MISSOULA — Whitefish’s Gracie Young edged the field by two strokes to win the Corvallis Golf Meet on Tuesday at the University of Montana Golf Course.

Young scored a 90 to beat Dillon’s Lindsey Huber by two strokes for medalist honors, helping the Bulldogs to a team title in the process. Whitefish’s Ella Shaw finished fifth and Megan Archibald eighth.

The Bulldogs scored 439 as a team, besting runner-up Frenchtown by 22 strokes.

Stevensville’s Zel Fros and Frenchtown’s Derek Wolff each shot 5-over-par 77 to top the boys field.

Whitefish’s Cameron Kahle was third and teammate Jace Cripe was fifth with an 87. The Whitefish boys finished second as a team.

Polson’s Calvin Nowlen finished fourth with an 84 as the Pirates finished sixth as a team.
