Sanders County Sheriff’s Office has identified the suspect who allegedly shot and killed a woman and wounded a man before turning the gun on himself on Saturday, Nov. 25.

The suspect was identified as 64-year-old William Tyree.

Tyree had allegedly been in a heated argument with Charles Moore, 83, at a residence on Hope Valley Road outside of Trout Creek. Tyree reportedly shot Charles Moore in the shoulder. Moore was treated at St. Patrick’s Hospital in Missoula following the incident and is recovering from the wound.

A woman was found dead from a single gun shot wound at the scene. Due to her families’ request, the Sanders County Sheriff’s Office is withholding the woman’s name.

On Nov. 25, deputies dispatched to the scene of the crime determined that the suspect, Tyree, had fled just prior to their arrival. With the assistance of Two Bear Air, the suspect was located a short distance from the residence, dead from a self-inflicted gun shot wound.
