BUTTE — Bigfork, Columbia Falls, Flathead, Glacier and Whitefish were in the water for their second swim meet of the season on Saturday at the Butte Invitational.

The Flathead girls dropped their time four seconds in the 200 medley relay. Kaylee Kurkowski did the backstroke, Shayenn Thompson the breaststroke, Jade Barry swam butterfly and Emily Cephers did the freestyle in that event.

“All the girls did fantastic,” assistant Flathead/Glacier swim coach Hayley Coursey said.

“They swam at their 100 percent best.”

The Glacier boys dropped three seconds in the 200 medley relay. In that swim, Keegan Mackenstadt was the backstroker, Caleb Winkler did the breaststroke, Alex Bertrand the butterfly and Luke Ritzdorf did the freestyle.

“The boys swam great, putting forth maximum effort with the relay setting the standard for the day,” Coursey said.

“These relays were followed by a number of terrific swims from others on their teams as well.”

Coursey said the newest swimmers for both schools “all improved and stepped up at this swim meet.”

Combined, Flathead and Glacier had 39 swimmers competing.

The final meet for schools before the holiday break is Saturday at the Great Falls Invitational.

Swimming resumes Jan. 6 with the Missoula Invitational.
