Carol (McBroom) Lininger Poil, 87

Carol McBroom was born Nov. 1, 1930, in Kalispell to Clifford and Idella (Howell) McBroom.

She died Dec. 15, 2017, in Newton, Kansas.

She married Wilton Lininger Dec. 26, 1947, and they lived in Proctor where Wilton was born and raised. They had three daughters, Cathy, Norma and Betty. Wilton was a sawyer and in 1956 he was injured in an accident in the woods. His injury developed into cancer and he died Jan. 9, 1958.

Carol moved to Kalispell and spent her summers ponying horses at the county fairs. Later, she moved to California and worked at the racetracks year round for many years.

In 1989 she married Bob Poil and they moved back to Montana and the county fairs. Bob passed away in 1998.

Carol was also preceded in death by her daughter, Norma Lininger Carter (2000); son-in-law, Len Carter (2015); grandson, Joseph Nakamura (2016); and brother, Clayton “Buzz” McBroom (2014).

She is survived by her daughters, Cathy and Betty Lininger; grandson, Kazumi Nakamura;, granddaughter, Kyoko Nakamura; grandson, Ben (Melanie) Steele; two great-grandsons, Oliver and Andrew Steele; sisters, Myrna Teskey, Floy (Roger) Baker, and Sandra White; two half brothers, a half sister, and numerous extended family.

Graveside services will be scheduled in the summer.
