Residents managed to escape uninjured as their home in Lakeside was destroyed by a fire reported at 8:16 p.m. on Thursday.

Crews with the Somers-Lakeside Fire Department arrived on Stoner Creek Road to find heavy smoke and flames coming from the residence. Partnered with the South Kalispell Fire Department, they put out the blaze but were unable to save the house or the family’s pet cats trapped inside.

The cause of the fire is not yet known.

The residents, a mother and her two daughters, reportedly lost everything in the fire, and friends and family have encouraged community members to donate clothes, shoes, toiletries and other items.
