Lola V. Smith, 99
Lola Vernice Conover Smith, 99, passed away Feb. 2, 2017.
Lola was born March 10, 1917, in Rogers, North Dakota, to George and Cleo Conover. The family moved to Wolford, North Dakota, in 1920 where she learned to help in her father’s garage and graduated from high school in 1933. During World War II she and her sister moved to Los Angeles where they helped with the war effort working for Firestone Rubber Co.
She married Marshall Smith in Williamsburg, Virginia, in 1944. After the war they resided in North Dakota until 1949 when they moved to Kalispell, building their home that same year. Lola and Marshall resided there until Lola moved to Welcov Assisted Living in 2011.
Lola loved her home and gardening. She enjoyed traveling south with Marshall in the winter months.
She was a member of the Faith Alliance Church for many years and participated in the Mobile Missionary Assistance Program.
She is survived by two sons, Lamont and Scott Smith, grandsons Randall and Paul, great-grandsons Tanner and Camden, sister Donnis Diehl, and several nieces and nephews.
